DawgNation plans another Invasion for the game in Florida on Oct. 28. The big recruiting news of the week has been the Bulldogs’ most recent commitment: Adam Anderson, the nation’s No. 2 outside linebacker, from Rome, Ga.

That has pushed the Bulldogs to the top of the SEC recruiting rankings for 2018. In preparation for that big-game weekend, DawgNation takes a look at the recruiting trends with each program.

Georgia picked up a big commitment from Adam Anderson on Thursday night. That pledge vaulted UGA from No. 12 to No. 6 in the 247Sports composite team rankings.

That gives the Bulldogs 17 commitments for 2018. Georgia has come a long way since May, when the Bulldogs had just two commitments and ranked at the bottom of the SEC recruiting rankings.

With the big game coming up next weekend, how does the recruiting rivalry with Florida stack up?

  • Georgia (17 commits): Ranks No. 1 in the SEC and No. 6 nationally
  • Florida (17 commits): Ranks No. 3 in the SEC and No. 9 nationally

The Bulldogs have picked up the pace over the last month on the recruiting trail. Let’s check back to where the program was just one month ago.

  • Georgia: (15 commits): Ranked No. 5 in the SEC and No. 14 nationally.

The commitment of 5-star QB and No. 1 overall prospect Justin Fields gave the Bulldogs a big boost.

When UGA picked up a commitment from the nation’s No. 2 OLB, Anderson, on Thursday night, it pushed the Bulldogs into the top spot in the conference.

As the nation’s No. 1 prospect, Fields, obviously, is the highest-rated recruit in the 2018 class for Georgia. Anderson is now the No.3-rated commit for this cycle in Athens.

In contrast, the Gators have not picked up a commitment for their 2018 recruiting class since 4-star running back Dameon Pierce (Bainbridge, Ga.) pledged on Aug. 6. Pierce, the nation’s No. 9 running back this year, was not pursued heavily by the in-state Bulldogs.
