Editor’s note: DawgNation reached out to the signees in the 2018 class and asked if they would be willing to write a short essay detailing what it means personally to them to be a member of the Georgia Bulldogs. Thankfully, we’ve found who several were ready and willing to share their own story. The first #RareBreed18 submission for this series comes from big Oklahoma tackle Owen Condon. His mother, Sheri, is a UGA alum.

It means so much to me to say that I’m going to be playing football for the University of Georgia next year. During the recruiting process, I searched for a school that had the best combination of great football, academics and a place where I would feel comfortable with the staff.

UGA fits all three of those categories perfectly for me, and I truly think there is no better place for me than in Athens.

Owen Condon (left) writes that all five of the offensive line signees have a goal: to start on the line at the same time for the Bulldogs. (Owen Condon/special to DawgNation)/Dawgnation)

I’m extremely excited to get on campus this summer and get to work. Our offensive line room is going to be filled with elite talent, so there are going to be no easy days. But I see this as a positive thing because competition forces everyone to compete at the highest level, and the best rise to the top.

I can’t wait to start working with the guys that came in our 2018 class and start building relationships with them. Our goal is to have all five of us starting one day, and we’re going to keep working until we achieve it.

As a program as a whole, I see a great future ahead. There is no doubt that we will be right back in the playoff as we were this year. We have tons of young talent in the 2017 and 2018 classes who will start contributing to our success, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.

We want rings in our time at UGA and will pursue them relentlessly until we get them.
