In his third season in the NFL, Todd Gurley looked a lot like he did in his junior season at Georgia when he was on the field. And now the Georgia great is being recognized for his efforts.

Gurley was named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year on Saturday. The Georgia running back played a key role in leading the Rams back to the NFL playoffs for the first time since 2004.

The Rams went 11-5 this year, and a good chunk of that was because of Gurley’s play. He rushed for 1,305 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also had 788 receiving yards and 6 touchdown catches. All of those numbers were career bests for Gurley.

Los Angeles won the NFC West but saw its season come to an end in the wild-card round against the Atlanta Falcons. But the Rams clearly have a bright future with Gurley and quarterback Jared Goff leading the way.

In his three seasons at Georgia, Gurley rushed for 3,285 rushing yards and 36 career touchdowns. When he left school, Gurley was Georgia’s second all-time leading rusher, but he has since been surpassed by Sony Michel and Nick Chubb, who will join Gurley in the NFL next season.

Gurley was taken with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. It’s safe to say that Gurley has already proved he is worthy of such a draft pick.
